Q: When do you buy?

A: Gersons buys Monday through Friday from 9:00-11:00 or until we spend our buying budget for the day. We also buy through appointment if you are unable to make these times. If you have a specific/large item, email us a picture at info@gersonsbuildingmaterials.com. These times are subject to change. It is best to call ahead.

Q. Do you still do demolition?

A. No. We buy from contractors who are doing demolition and/or remodeling as well as from the general public.

Q. What do you buy?

A.  If you see it in our store, we will most likely by it. We pay much more than scrap, and re-using is best kind of re-cycling, saving energy and using perfectly good items that still have a long life ahead of them. Plus it will put some money in your pocket.

Q. Do you have more than one location?

A. No. 4726 S. Country Club just north of Irvington is the one and only location.

Q. Where do you get your liquidation stuff?

A.  We buy from various sources, many of which you probably shop at. These are returns, both at the  retail store level and from internet sales. We discount the price and pass the savings on to you.

Q. Do you have Spanish speaking employees?

A. Yes we do. Much of our business is conducted in Spanish and we welcome customers no matter what language they speak. We will figure out a way to communicate and save you money.

Q. Didn't your place used to be a bar?

A.  Yes. It was a bar for a number of years, and the last use before it became Gersons was as a truck driving school.

Q. How do your hire your employees?

A.  We are always interested in talking to talented friendly people who like to work with the public and are not afraid of hard work. We may not be hiring when you come in, but we like to know who is looking for work so we can find the right person when we have a need.

Q.  Who is Bill Ding?

A.  Bill is our mascot and also answers most of our email. He is a mechanical man drawn by the talented artists at Tucci Advertising. His Spanish speaking cousin is Ed Eficio. They look like identical twins.

 Q. Do you pick up?

A. No, we do not have the facilities for pick up.

Q. Do you deliver?

A. At this time, we do not have a delivery service as we don't have enough staff to support one.

Q. If we buy something online, how long do we have to pick it up?

A. You have 3 days from the date of purchase to pick your item up from our store or to make other arrangements. WE DO NOT SHIP.  We want our customers to see and touch our merchandise before purchase.  If you do buy something online and can not pick it up, there will be a charge of $75 for any refund.  This will cover our costs, credit card fees (which do not get refunded) and help discourage online sales.  PLEASE come over to our store and see what we have for you.  We are more than happy to sell in person.
